Jude's Quilt

In making this quilt for Jude, I wanted to piece together something special that would be a token of love for him. I hope he will one day see the joy of my expectation and affection for him in every stitch. In the fabrics, there are swatches from both mine and Gene's histories: a piece of his shirt, a scrap from my grandmother's sheets. To me, the quilt symbolizes parts of two becoming something new.

I began by looking for some inspiration and found some lovely samples from Purl Soho, A Quilt is Nice, and fitf.

Then, I made a plan in InDesign by scanning in my fabrics and making the design to scale.

Without much formal training, I found The Quilters Ultimate Visual Guide to be an essential resource.

And and few months later, the final touch was putting my sweet baby Jude on top! I hope it will be something he can treasure in the future.
